We recently signed a contract with a major health food seller because we were able to provide a solution that gave them everything in one package and for less than what many other firms were charging. With BC we have been able to sell more sites, make more money and save more time. If we were to develop this particular solution with CodeIgniter or Rails, it would have cost around $45,000+. Using BC, the total cost was down to under $15,000 and the development time was cut down to about 1/3 of what it would be if we were using Rails.
BC is not only for designers. Developers will love the speed at which a custom application can be built using the Web App framework and the time it will save them. BC also comes with an API that allows developers to extend the reach and capabilities of an already feature rich and flexible system.
Guardian Lutheran Church and School was in need of a website they could use as a resource to run their events, perform community outreach, be a direct line of communication for teachers and parents, collect donations, provide private secure areas for staff, faculty and members as well as sell School paraphernalia and perform fund raising online.
After reviewing several open source solutions and a handful of custom built, hosted CMS's designed exclusively for churches, it was apparent that we were going to need something much more powerful and flexible in order to meet the diverse needs of a large Church and School.
Business Catalyst allowed us to build a website on time and on budget that provides both Church and School with the features they need to expand their reach into the community, cater to the members and students, provide faculty and staff with an official medium for communication and cut costs all at the same time.
The site makes use of many BC features including blogs, announcements, event bookings, e-commerce, web forms, literature, photo galleries, customer database, email marketing, RSS feeds, forums and more. We even built a custom homework section for teachers, students and parents, a custom announcement module for important events, and a custom podcasting web app so the Pastor could put his weekly sermons online.
We are also planning to build a online gradebook, a family and student directory and several other apps that will allow Guardian Lutheran to expand their online capabilities, cut their costs and consolidate all 3rd party applications into one web based interface.
